Great Lakes Awareness Day celebrates the Great Lakes and highlights the issues they face, and how the lakes can be preserved. There are five Great Lakes: Superior, Huron, Michigan, Ontario, and Erie. Together they make up the largest body of freshwater on Earth and stretch 750 miles from east to west. They are located on the border of the United States and Canada and touch the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania. It is believed that at one time the Great Lakes were covered by a glacier—it receded towards Canada and left depressions filled with water.

A 404 (pronounced "four oh four") message is a computer error message that indicates a web server was communicated with, but the server was unable to find what was requested. These messages are often accompanied by the phrase "not found." Information is usually unable to be found because links are broken or dead, meaning the pages have been moved or deleted. Web servers often create custom 404 pages that contain a description, a site's branding, and humor. 404 Day fittingly takes place on the fourth day of the fourth month of the year.

Plant-based foods such as tofu, lentils, legumes, nuts, fruits and vegetables tend to be high in fiber and rich in various nutrients, and well-planned plant-based diets have been deemed healthy at every stage of life. The best way to celebrate Plant Power Day is to have an entire set of meals that are completely plant-based. Also take the time to find out where the plants you’ll be using are sourced from. This allows you to not only have a healthier meal but to make sure it’s good for the planet as well.

Wave All Your Fingers

Wave All Your Fingers at Your Neighbors Day. The Hub Radio Show for Monday February 7, 2022. View the completely altruistic playlist for 02-07-22 (CLICK HERE)

Yard Act, Geese, Eels, Elvis Costello, Spoon, Pedro The Lion

The day's name gives the impression that perhaps sometimes people wave at their neighbors by only using some of their fingers. Being that the day is also about a "time to put it all aside," it seems to suggest them sometimes people "wave" at their neighbors when they aren't getting along with them. This is likely implying that sometimes neighbors give each other the finger. On today's holiday, they shouldn't do that, but should instead give a normal wave.

17th Annual Holiday Hub

The seventeenth annual Holiday Hub, Monday, December 20, 2021 6-8pm MST on 91.3FM KXCI Tucson, AZ. Stream at www.KXCI.org

For the past seventeen seasons, good old Saint Nick has combed through the musical landscape searching for the most unusual seasonal tunes.

Songs of summer come and go. Once-ubiquitous hits of the past are relegated to “throwback” playlists. Year-end album lists codify the past and clear the slate for the future. But Holiday music is timeless. It is a musical genre full of good cheer mostly. This musical aesthetic and its warm vibes extend beyond the year round pop and rock. These are Holiday songs, cutting across genres and decades. Songs that elbow their way through the dross to enshrine themselves in the Christmas-music canon, cementing what would otherwise be long-forgotten music trends into a shared, classic holiday remembrance.

So kick off your boots, put an ornament on the tree, fire up a mug of mulled wine and enjoy The Holiday Hub this Monday December 20th 6-8pm. Ho ho ho.

Microwave Oven

Microwave Oven. The Hub Radio Show for Monday December 6, 2021. View the completely steamy playlist for 12-06-21 (CLICK HERE)

Geese, IDLES, Liily, TV Priest, Dry Cleaning

Microwave ovens use non-ionizing radiation that has a frequency between that of radio and infrared wavelengths. Unlike X-rays, which use ionizing radiation, and can be harmful, the non-ionizing radiation from microwaves is safe. A process called dielectric heating allows water, fat, and other substances to absorb energy. Molecules in these substances are electric dipoles, meaning they have a positive charge on one end and a negative charge on the other. The molecules move as they try to align themselves in a microwave, which creates heat.
