Wild tigers are only found in Asia. The larger subspecies of them, such as the Siberian tiger, usually live in more northern, colder areas such as eastern Russia and northeastern China, while the smaller subspecies live in warmer, southern countries, such as India, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. Tigers live in forests, which vary depending on the subspecies and the part of the world they are in. Arid, flooded mangrove, tropical, and taiga are all forests that are inhabited by tigers. Tigers are solitary creatures that roam large areas for food. A Siberian tiger may have a range of 4,000 square miles. Tigers usually are orange with black stripes but can be other colors as well, such as white with tan stripes. The markings are different on every tiger, just like fingerprints on a human. Being carnivores, their stripes help camouflage them when hunting large animals such as deer, rhinos, elephant calves, and pigs. The tigers suffocate their prey with their large jaws, after clamping down on their neck.

Blue Monday is a name given to a day in January claimed to be the most depressing day of the year. The concept was first publicized as part of a 2005 press release from holiday company Sky Travel, which claimed to have calculated the date using an equation. It takes into account weather conditions and this only applies to the Northern Hemisphere. Per complete coincidence the date in the United States almost always coincides with the celebration of Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday, and so the concept of Blue Monday is not widely known there.

Canada Day celebrates the country's movement to self-government. On July 1, 1867, Canada became a self-governing Dominion of Great Britain, after the passage of the British North America Act. It also became a federation with four provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec. These provinces were made from the British colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and the Province of Canada (previously Upper Canada and Lower Canada). The Act allowed for other provinces and territories to join the country in the future. On June 20, 1868, the Governor General said the anniversary of Canada becoming a Dominion should be celebrated. It became a statutory holiday in 1879 and was known as Dominion Day at the time. The first official celebrations weren't held until 1917, on the Dominion's fiftieth anniversary. It began being celebrated more frequently after World War II, and even more so after the 100th anniversary in 1967. It began being called Canada Day by celebrants and has been officially known as Canada Day since 1983. This was stipulated by the Canada Act of 1982. Canada also became a fully independent country with this act, no longer being under the dominion of Great Britain.

La llegada del solsticio de verano se celebra en toda la geografía española con ritos y tradiciones ancestrales. Algunos piensan que San Juan es la noche más corta del año (en el hemisferio norte) o la más larga (en el sur); aunque esto suele ocurrir el día 21 de junio; alargándose en ciudades la fiesta hasta el amanecer. La noche de San Juan ha adquirido la magia de las antiguas fiestas paganas que se organizaban con el solsticio de verano. La fiesta cristiana de San Juan es el 24 de junio, seis meses antes de la víspera del nacimiento de Jesús, que es el 24 de diciembre. Estos seis meses son la diferencia que los evangelios indican entre uno y otro nacimiento. No obstante, tres días de diferencia de ambas fechas con ambos solsticios hace que no sea razonable asignar esta fiesta al solsticio, y los estudiosos se inclinan por el hecho de que el 25 de diciembre, nacimiento de Jesús, se asocia más razonablemente a la celebración judía de la Hanukkah o dedicación del Templo (Jesús era el nuevo Templo para los cristianos).

Unfortunately, despite it having a delicious-sounding name, it does not necessarily mean the moon will be turning strawberry red. It is actually just the name given to June’s full moon by Native Americans. Native Americans published the names for all the full moons in the 1930s Maine Farmer’s Almanac. The reason June’s full moon was named after the fruit was because of the relatively short harvesting season for strawberries in northeastern North America. June’s full moon is also known as the last full moon of spring. In Europe it is also known as the Mead Moon, Honey Moon or Rose Moon. June’s full moon is named due to harvesting reasons. But there are also those who believe the Strawberry Moon signals the end of the world. Pastor Tim Henderson believes the Strawberry Moon will spark the end of days – or The Rapture. The Rapture is an event where many Christians believe the son of God will return. It is believed when this happens believers who are “alive and remain shall be caught up together… in the clouds to see the Lord in the air”. The Rapture ill happen in “the twinkling of an eye”, and all believers will disappear from Earth up to Heaven.

Jupiter has generally been associated with good luck and bounty. Optimism and growth (including mental and spiritual growth) come under its rule. On the up side, Jupiter is associated with a sense of humor, good will, and mercy. The more negative manifestations of Jupiter include blind optimism, excess, and overindulgence. Irresponsibility that results from blind optimism, not ill will, can be displayed. Jupiter’s glyph, or symbol, shows the crescent of receptivity rising above the cross of matter. This symbolize Jupiter’s role of raising our awareness beyond the physical world. Jupiter encourages us to reach, expand, and improve. Jupiter takes approximately 12 years to come full circle. Therefore, every 3 years or so, Jupiter will transit conjunct, square, or opposite a natal point. When that natal point is an intensely personal planet or point (such as the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Mercury, Venus, or Mars), we feel its effects in a similarly personal way.

Chimborazo Day celebrates the spot on the Earth that is closest to the moon and farthest from the center of the Earth. Chimborazo is an inactive volcano that is in the Cordillera Occidental range of the Andes Mountains in central Ecuador, and has an elevation of 20,565 feet. Although Chimborazo has a lower elevation than Mt. Everest, because of its spot near the Equator it is the farthest from the Earth’s center and closest to the moon. The Earth is not a perfect sphere, but rather it is an oblate spheroid. The Equatorial diameter is larger than the Polar diameter, and Chimborazo lies close to the former. Being that it lies on this Equatorial bulge, it sticks about a mile and a half farther into space than Mt. Everest. For eighty years during the 19th century men and women tried to reach the peak of Chimborazo before succeeding. To celebrate Chimborazo Day you may want to get as far away from center of the Earth as possible. Climb a hill! Climb a tower! Climb a mountain! You will be just a little bit closer to the place in space that Chimborazo holds.
