Day of the Dude is celebrated on March 6 every year to commemorate the North American release of the movie “The Big Lebowski” in 1998. A movie about simplicity, peace, and happiness. The idea is to enjoy life’s little moments such as bowling or drinking or other things. Being able to easily let things go and go with the flow is a big part of it. Shun stress and opt for a blissful way of life.

Lame Duck Day

Lame Duck Day. The Hub Radio Show for Monday February 6, 2023. View the completely useless playlist for 2-6-23 (CLICK HERE)

The term "lame duck" applies to a politician who has either just lost an election or is retiring, during the time between an election and the time their replacement takes their office. The term can also apply to managers, leaders, and others whose time in an office is ending or who are retiring. A day to reflect on what you want your legacy to be and enjoy your last days in your position. If you know a lame duck, wish them the best. Perhaps you could even organize a party for them.

Booker T. & The MGs, Beach Boys, Lee Michaels, Animals, Cat Stevens, Elton John

Coddiwomple is a relatively new slang word which means ‘to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination'. Could be regarded as a “made up word” but that would be silly because all words are made up. When you coddiwomple you have your purpose, but you have no expectations of what you will find.  It may involve you driving around where you live, even walking around the area, long road trips, holidays abroad or anything that just pushes you out of your comfort zone! Have a purpose and go and see the world before it’s too late…get yourself a bit coddiwompling in your life!

No, this is not a day for going out into the wild and hugging bears; it is a day when people hug their teddy bear, the comfort animal that was named after the 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt. Since the creation of the teddy bear, it has become one of the most iconic toys and comfort items for children, and has also been featured in songs, television shows, and movies. Teddy bears have also become important collector's items for adults. But, maybe adults don't just collect bears because of their monetary value. A recent study found that over half of adults still have their favorite stuffed animal they grew up with, 40% sleep with it by their side, and 70% said they want to keep it for the rest of their lives! That makes it pretty easy for them to take out their teddy bear and give it a hug today!
